The Assamese thriller Rudra is now streaming on ReelDrama, bringing one of the region's most talked-about recent releases to audiences far beyond Assam.
Directed by Roopak Gogoi and produced by Shyam Productionz, Rudra lands on the OTT platform after a run on the awards circuit. Its lead, the veteran Assamese actor Ravi Sharma, has been recognised with the INCA Award and the Filmfare Assam Best Actor Award for the role — honours the film's team credits as central to its critical reception.
Sharma's performance has drawn praise for its restraint and intensity, the kind of grounded, character-led work that has kept him among Assamese cinema's most durable leads. In Rudra, the makers say, that depth anchors a story built on a strong regional sensibility.
"We are excited that the film is available on Reeldrama," the team behind Rudra said of the digital release. "The OTT premiere provides a chance for audiences outside Assam to experience contemporary Assamese storytelling at scale."
That reach is the point. Rudra joins a growing line of regional Indian films finding national — and increasingly diaspora — audiences through streaming, as platforms close the distance between a story told in Assamese and a viewer watching it in Toronto, London or Dubai.
